Summer will last almost until the end of September. This was stated in “This Morning” by the climatologist and vice president of the Bulgarian Association of Travel Agents, Prof. Georgi Rachev. According to him, temperatures are still high, even though the autumnal equinox is approaching.
Professor Rachev clarified that cooling is expected around September 19, but temperatures will remain high during the season. He added that no serious rainfall is expected in the next two weeks: “We are currently 3-4 degrees above normal. Such temperatures and so long, rarely occur,” he added.
However, the climatologist insisted that it would be difficult to meet expectations for a late summer season in October.
“In October, people can go on vacation for whom hot sunny weather is contraindicated. Our people are still waiting in line for hours to go to Greece. The COVID test has become the new visa,” commented Professor Rachev .
The climatologist pointed out that since July our country has been divided into two – Eastern Bulgaria, where it is below normal and Western Bulgaria, where they are normal.
“We bathe them, they will have water not only throughout the winter, but also in spring. There is a drought along the Kamchia River, where the main dams on the Black Sea coast are located. It is good that 70% of the large hotels are closed because there would be a shortage of water, ”explained Prof. Rachev, adding that urgent measures must be taken to avoid a water crisis.
