There is a need for a new left party in Bulgaria, the writer believes
The intellectuals need to be at the forefront of the protests. And in previous protests they were in the front line, I have welcomed each protest with very good feelings, if not with enthusiasm, and I have participated, albeit indirectly in them, Stefan Tsanev, writer, poet, playwright and since yesterday and winner of the award told BNR Golden Pen for his contribution to native culture and art.
“This protest disgusts the intellectuals for two reasons: because of its means, which are not very aesthetic, to put it mildly. You cannot fight against simplicity with simplicity, those means that they used as a kind of protest, shooting eggs, spoiled products. Few remember because they are younger, but the same attributes were used against the enemies of the people when they dekulakized the 1950s. They toured the houses with drums, with coffins, on which was written the name of the person they were exhibiting, and they said to him: enter the coffin or the cooperative farm. This replay, I don’t know where he got it from, perhaps the father of someone who participated in these remnant raids. It reminds me a lot, because our house was surrounded in this way. Politicians confuse Bulgaria a lot because they don’t compete with ideas, they spit on each other. The bad word is a boomerang, it goes back to whoever said it, “Tsanev said.
According to him, the second reason why the protest disgusts the intellectuals is the prospect of the protests: “Because it is clear who they are targeting, and nowhere is it clear what, what will happen after these protests.”
“There is an illustrative case: when the Constitution of Tarnovo was approved in 1879, Dondukov-Korsakov attended the festivities on this occasion and asked Antim I:” Your Beatitude, since Bulgaria is now free, we liberated you from the Turks, Why are you not happy? Why are you so attentive? “Your Majesty – Antim I replied, you liberated us from the Turks, that’s good, but I think – and who will liberate us from you?” The writer told BNR.
He added that the protesters today thought of doing a concert for their own purposes: they will use art, it will be something nice, something that attracts people, does not repel them.
“There is no other way than young people born free, not infected by slavery, to take the helm of the state … These young people should be afraid,” said Stefan Tsanev, who gave the example of how Finland is ruled by girls of 30 years.
“Modern democracy has invented its civilized means: they are elections and nothing more.” It will be extremely difficult if young people are not organized, unfortunately they cannot do without a match. In Bulgaria, there is a real need for a new left party, but not the so-called Bulgarian Socialist Party, it bears the sins of the old one, which it inherited, the Bulgarian Communist Party, “emphasized Tsanev.
Freedom and happiness cannot be achieved with malice, hatred, vulgarity, threats, gallows, coffins and black flags. We must find the strength to love each other, “Stefan Tsanev told the protesters in absentia and the targets of the anti-government demonstrations.
