Sofia University and Sofia Medical University are making significant progress in this year’s world university rankings, compiled by the Quaquarelli Simmonds Research Institute (QS), which specializes in higher education.

Russia and China have reported their best performances so far. A record number of Chinese university programs are in the top 50 and a record number of Russians are in the top 20. Tsinghua University in Beijing is ranked 15th overall, ahead of Yale (17th).
