Since the start of the state of emergency, all sociological agencies have reported an increase in support for the cabinet. In those moments, there is an internal consolidation around decision makers. This is what sociologist Dimitar Ganev said on the “Offensive” program on Channel 3.
The evaluation of the national operational headquarters is still at an extremely high level: more than 60% support, he added.
We are in an unprecedented situation in which the Bulgarians believe that our government has done better than the governments of other European countries, Ganev said.
The data shows that there is exhaustion due to a regime as restrictive as the one we had in the first month and a half. Bulgaria was divided into two parties: Mangarov and Mutafchiiski. They have opinions and discuss every day on Facebook. There is a similar division in all European countries. The only European country where Mangarov’s party is in power is Sweden, said the political analyst.
Consolidation around power is an assessment of the government’s response to an emergency. However, the moment we stop talking about the health crisis, we will talk about the economic crisis related to emergency measures. An unprecedented decline in gross domestic product is expected this year. The question is whether the government will be able to maintain the level of trust, because everyone will look for a culprit and this culprit generally faces power. From now on, there will be dissatisfaction and it will intensify, of that there is no doubt, Ganev stressed.
The BSP somehow did not find itself in this crisis. The crisis has trapped the BSP in a very special situation, in a severe internal division. The division there is gigantic. The war for the party leader will be very difficult, said the sociologist.
He also commented on the behavior of the head of state Rumen Radev
Rumen Georgiev Radev is a Bulgarian military general in the reserve. Former commander of from the beginning of the state of emergency.
The president loses the situation he is in. Inevitably, there are reasons to criticize the government, but when it comes to the coronavirus, the nation faced serious trial and the nation hoped for a consolidation of power. The president should be unifying and the institutions should have common positions on the emergency measures, added Dimitar Ganev.
