Today, September 30, 2020, the District Prosecutor’s Office – Plovdiv initiated a pre-trial process in relation to the incident in the Garden of Tsar Simeon in Plovdiv on September 27, 2020, in which according to initial data a group of minors shot eggs and insulted people with different sexual orientation.
The investigation is carried out for causing minor bodily injury for xenophobic and hooligan motives, a crime according to art. 131 par. 1 point 12 above Art. 130 para. 2 of the Penal Code, for which a penalty of up to 1 year of “imprisonment” or “probation” is foreseen.
During the preliminary inspection carried out in the case, in the period from September 27 to 30, 2020, under the direction of the District Prosecutor’s Office – Plovdiv and thanks to the employees of the OD of the Ministry of the Interior – Plovdiv, They took explanations from more than 50 people involved in the incident. and eyewitnesses. Correspondence was maintained with the Regional Inspectorate of Education – Plovdiv, which provided information on the participants in the incident and the schools in which they study to conduct interviews with pedagogical advisers and psychologists in schools.
So far, it has been established that on September 27, 2020, around 5:10 pm, a signal was received on tel. “In the direction of the Garden of Tsar Simeon. The participants of both groups prepared in advance by buying eggs and flour, and some of the girls, identified as “lesbians”, carried wooden sticks – pencil sharpeners with which they tried to defend themselves from possible attacks, as there was an advance warning in the networks social support to the group of LGBT people not to go out to the garden that day “for their personal safety.”
Around 4 in the afternoon, a large group of underage children, identifying themselves as FC Botev fans, gathered in Bunardjika Park, bought eggs in a hypermarket in Plovdiv and headed to Tsar Simeon’s garden, where the group of girls with different sexual orientation.
At around 5 p.m., the two groups met in the garden. They started shooting each other with eggs and chestnuts, in addition to insulting each other. According to initial data, one of the girls in the group with a different sexual orientation was beaten with a bottle of mineral water and another was slapped by the attackers. Upon the arrival of officers from the Second Regional Directorate of the Ministry of the Interior – Plovdiv, the attackers fled.
In the course of the pre-trial process already initiated, a series of investigative actions will be carried out: questioning of witnesses, gathering of evidence, including video recordings, preparation of complex psychological and psychiatric examinations. All local commissions to combat antisocial behavior of minors will be notified shortly, as well as correspondence with the Department of Child Protection.
