Vesselin Mareshki spoke out after receiving a 4-year prison sentence for extortion by threatening to damage property.

The third instance will decide whether the vice president of the National Assembly will actually go to prison.

He said he wasn’t worried because he was innocent.

Vesselin Mareshki and Krassimira Koleva are accused of trying to force businessman Asen Milanov to give them 10,000 BGN a month 6 years ago. He was threatened with the destruction of the pizzeria he ran. The act was accompanied by destruction and damage to property.

“Yes, God forbid, I am found guilty, I will be the first Bulgarian to be convicted of trying to protect his property from the monsters who tried to take it away,” Mareshki said.

Prosecutor Asen Milanov himself mentions that he has not met or spoken to me since 2011. The fact that I am accused of organized crime does not surprise me, but simply absurd. The only way I seek my rights is the legal form, ”Krassimira Koleva commented.

She says that at the time she was a manager and partner of the company, owner of the property, and Mareshki insists that he owns the land on which the buildings were illegally constructed.

“Due to my intransigence in the face of corruption and cartels, I have caused damage to many political and economic entities, which have enormous power and are currently confronting me,” said the vice president of the National Assembly.

Mareshki promised that in the next few days he would show documents proving his innocence.

“The deceptions that they were selling me, that they could buy me or be caught on a leash, suddenly collapsed. It became clear that Mareshki was not being sold for a single beach or for his freedom. There are other examples in the world – most of the new story of Valensa, in the Czech Republic, Havel, Mandela, about people, politicians who were persecuted by the mafia, but who later became political leaders ”, commented Veselin Mareshki.

Asen Milanov was not immediately available for comment.
