At the moment, six people have been arrested for whom there is evidence of complicity in the criminal group organized by usury and organized crime in the territory of Kyustendil and the region, which was previously announced by Chief Prosecutor Ivan Geshev.
Searches are carried out at 14 addresses, physical evidence is seized, witnesses are questioned, incl. victims of criminal activity, according to the state attorney’s office.
The investigation is under the direction and supervision of the Special Prosecutor’s Office and officials of the General Directorate for the Fight against Organized Crime.
The evidence gathered shows that participants made loans at high interest rates to people who were subjected to mental harassment and beatings for late payment of contributions.
The investigation continues. After gathering and analyzing the evidence, the prosecutor overseeing the case will decide which individuals should be detained for up to 72 hours and which should be prosecuted.
