Specialists from the Swedish University of Carolina injected a South American llama alpaca with a spiny protein, with the help of which the coronavirus enters the body’s cells and after 60 days its blood samples showed a strong immune response. The scientists then cloned and studied the nanobody sequence of the animal’s B lymphocytes, which are involved in the production of antibodies, Nova Television reports.

As a result, the researchers identified a type of ty1 nantello that attaches to the parts of the spiny protein that bind to the ACE2 receptor and more effectively prevents the virus from penetrating cells in the body.

The researchers note that the nanobodies found are significantly smaller than conventional antibodies, simpler and more cost-effective to produce, and can be adapted by humans.
