The worst Bulgarian athlete in history, Emil Zhekov, died after a heart attack on Wednesday at the age of 64.
Our legendary hustle made history as a pioneer of ancient Japanese sports in our country. He is one of the inspirers of the most successful native sumo, Kaloyan Mahlyanov, Kotooshu, with Emil Zhekov paving the way for Kotooshu to Japan.
Zhekov felt ill on Tuesday night and his relatives took him to Veliko Tarnovo. The initial diagnosis did not announce a fatal outcome, but in the morning Zhekov’s heart stopped beating.
Emil Zhekov is a multiple champion from Bulgaria. He has a bronze medal from the European Championship. It reached the Top 8 in the absolute category.
