Russian soccer player CSKA Denis Davidov is unable to return home due to a lack of flights, Moscow Ambassador to Sofia Anatoly Makarov told TASS.
On Friday, Davidov, who broke up with CSKA, announced on Instagram that he had been abandoned from his home country and was unable to leave, although the Bulgarian government has arranged a Sofia – Moscow – Sofia flight for which he purchased tickets.
“Unfortunately there are no outgoing flights from Bulgaria so far. This to Moscow on May 2 is a private one organized by the Bulgarian airline Bulgaria Air. It is empty in Moscow because the airport has a maximum capacity to accommodate no more than 500 people and currently this capacity is exhausted, “says Makarov.
Makarov adds that there is no information from Davidov at the embassy. The consular department of the embassy has a request from 200 Russians who want to go home.
CSKA said they will not leave Davidov on the street, and he will use his old home, which will be at the club’s expense.
