Mi-8 and Mi-24 helicopters of the Russian Air Force will participate in the peacekeeping operation in Nagorno-Karabakh. This was announced by the Ministry of Defense, reported Lenta.ru.
The helicopters will monitor the ceasefire control and military operations in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone. In addition, the helicopters will assist with support and supplies for the peacekeeping contingent in hard-to-reach areas.
The Russian Defense Ministry sent a peacekeeping contingent to Nagorno-Karabakh, which includes 1,960 soldiers, 90 armored personnel carriers and 380 units of vehicles and special equipment. Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed an agreement on a complete ceasefire and all military actions in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone.
Armenia has been forced to sign an agreement to end hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh to avoid a military collapse, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said. The Ministry of Defense and the Armenian General Staff said that the Armed Forces will implement the agreements reached and called on the population to refrain from actions that destabilize the country. President Armen Sargsyan has announced that he is initiating political consultations to discuss the situation.
