I have never said that the restrictions are falling, it is time to think about how to get out of this state gradually and safely. This is the comment of the Head of State Rumen Radev in the bTV special study Ask the President.
“There is a consensus on health measures: the Bulgarians learned and assumed this role, respecting social distance. We are dramatically behind with the introduction of really effective socio-economic measures. This creates tension,” the president warned.
According to him, there is no conflict with Prime Minister Borisov, but he questioned the authorities’ approach. “We have to look for a problem in which panic meets reality: Should the crisis be handled in panic, in fear, with corpses on the screen?” Radev asked.
He noted that the WHO did warn that prompt action could activate the coronavirus, but “we must also address this pandemic with a range of aggressive measures: testing, contact monitoring, isolation.” According to him, the moment of massless testing has already been lost, and without it, “we are blindfolded” in the pandemic, even if the state of emergency is more complicated than its announcement.
“To me, it doesn’t sound good to say, ‘Well, we’re not going to do the test because the tests are expensive.’ How expensive are they when they give money to the planes last year? Weren’t they expensive? For the pipeline … huge budget surpluses … “commented Radev.
According to him, the government places the main emphasis on investments in infrastructure projects, and investment in human resources should be a # 1 priority. This is exactly how Bulgaria would be more prepared for the pandemic, Radev said.
He harshly criticized the actions of Prime Minister Borisov, who during an exchange of positions by correspondence through the media announced on the national air that the father of the head of state had died: “I do not need a personal speaker to announce the death of my father”.
