Nearly an hour after the Health Minister’s published order, which ordered the closure of nightclubs across the country from October 29 to November 12, industry representatives came out with a stance demanding the state’s help. It was prepared during the national assembly organized by the Bulgarian Restaurant Association and the Bulgarian Restaurant Association, which was attended by more than 150 people representing more than 400 clubs.

All employed and self-employed workers must pay 80% of their salary plus insurance during the period in which the establishments are closed. The same measure will be required to apply to workers such as security guards and cleaners.

“Restaurant owners are ready to take on the first wave of closures. But our staff must be supported. The industry made this decision unanimously and supported it,” the position of the two organizations reads.

Before the meeting, the president of the Bulgarian Restaurant Association, Richard Alibegov, said that between 120,000 and 130,000 people would lose their jobs when nightclubs closed. “When it comes to shutting down Bulgaria’s nightlife, you have to keep in mind that it’s about security companies, cleaning companies, DJs, artists, singers, then come the bartenders, waiters and finally the owners,” he said. cited by BNT.

The organizations have arranged a new industry meeting that will take place before the expiration of the 14-day deadline for closing establishments. It should discuss the financial demands if the ban on the operation of retail establishments continues. So far no protests are planned.
