The company will focus its financing on other models.
The future of Renault Megane is in doubt, revealed by the management of the French company to Auto Express. The model has been on the market since 1995, but A decline in sales and a focus on EV development are likely to give up on development in the future.
According to Renaut chief designer Lawrence van der Acker, the company’s bosses are discussing the possibility of using Megane’s development costs to develop other models.
“Once we start expanding our range of electric vehicles, inevitably some of the current models will stopbecause we cannot afford to work on everything at the same time. The Megane segment is under tremendous pressure and we need to channel our money into the future in the market, “explained the designer.
Megane sales have declined steadily since 2010, when 465,732 units were sold in Europe. 10 years later, the result was 209,845 sales, with some markets declining dramatically. In the UK, for example, 2,699 units were sold in 2020 against 58,994 by VW Golf.
