Blagoevgrad nurse Yordanka Paunova, who was re-infected with a corona infection, lost the battle with COVID-19. He died in the intensive care unit of Blagoevgrad Hospital after nearly two weeks of efforts by doctors, reported struma.bg.
His first encounter with the coronavirus was in May, when he had it with relative ease. In early December, however, she felt unwell, had typical symptoms, and after a test, the PCR test was positive. The nurse entered one of the COVID wards for treatment, but her condition worsened and she was transferred to the intensive care unit, where she died last night.
Yordanka Paunova retired on March 8, 2018 as an internal medicine nurse with 39 years of work experience, but even after that she continued to work and care for patients.
Unfortunately, this is the third nurse from Blagoevgrad to fall victim to the insidious virus this month. In early December, COVID-19 killed a nurse in the hemodialysis room, Ana Popnikolova, and Vangelia Kiprova, a nurse in the intensive care unit for the mentally ill.
