Real Madrid beat Borussia Mönchengladbach 2-0 and won their Group B. Despite the difficult start in the group stage, the “white ballet” managed to rise with the first position.

The good news for the hosts was the return of captain Sergio Ramos. The Zinedine Zidane players took the initiative from the first minute and left no doubts about who is the best team.

Karim Benzema scored twice in the first half, and that was enough to ensure the success of Real Madrid, who rose to the top with 10 points.

Despite the defeat, Borussia (M) also qualified for the next phase of the Champions League. The German team remains in second place with 8 points, as does the third Shakhtar Donetsk, who ended in a draw with Inter in the other group match.

The “colts” won both matches with the Ukrainian champions, which gives them an advantage in the standings.

The match at the Alfredo Di Stefano stadium started with a more active game by the locals, which paid off in the ninth minute.

Lucas Vázquez broke well on the right and precisely crossed Benzema. The Frenchman showed his scoring style, leaping over rival defenders and easily sent the ball into the net for 1: 0.

The guests responded immediately with a blow from Thuram, which, however, did not hinder Courtois.

In the 25th minute the goal situation was clearer for the guests. The plea was brought face to face with a royal guard, but they were fired inches from the door.

Shortly after half an hour of play, Zinedine Zidane’s boys scored for the second time. Benzema fell back into the arms of his teammates after the defense of the “colts” fell asleep reflecting the situation of the first goal. The forward uncovered himself next to the door and doubled his team’s advantage.

At the end of the first half, Luka Modric had a chance to decide the final result, but his shot bounced off the side post. A little later, the Croatian was still scoring, but the goal was disallowed by an ambush.

After the break, things did not change and the “colts” had a hard time finding their way back to Thibaut Courtois’ gate. In 62 ‘Sommer scored with a good intervention after a shot by Tony Kroos from the edge of the area.

10 later, miraculously, the result remained unchanged. First Ramos shot dangerously with his head, but the guest guard intervened brilliantly, and then Benzema failed to make a hat trick after shaking the top beam from close range.

In the last minute of the regular 90s, the French forward was back in a clear position, but his header was too weak to hinder Jan Sommer.
