TO the complicated epidemic situation: President Rumen Radev surprisingly interrupted his visit to Estonia. He was scheduled to meet with the President and Prime Minister of the Baltic.
This morning, President Rumen Radev and his wife Desislava were due to arrive at the Estonian President’s administration building, where they were expected to be received by Estonian President Kersti Kalulaid and her husband.
The President hosted the Three Seas Initiative
At 11 a.m. it became clear that the meeting was canceled due to the complicated situation of the coronavirus and the impossibility of implementing all the elements of the planned program. The two leaders agreed on this in a telephone conversation this morning, NOVA notes.
The presidential institution stated that at the meeting between the two in Tallinn yesterday within the framework of the “Three Seas” initiative, the issues on the bilateral relations agenda and the “Three Seas” initiative were discussed, for which both decided to postpone the visit.
Later today, Radev was scheduled to meet with the Speaker of the Estonian Parliament and the Prime Minister of the country. This was followed by a visit to the NATO Cyber Defense Center of Excellence. The head of state’s participation in a conference was also scheduled for the afternoon.
It is not yet clear whether any of the members of the Bulgarian delegation or the Estonian side tested positive for coronavirus.
Radev: Development does not happen with asphalt
On Monday, the Bulgarian head of state participated in the Three Seas summit initiative in the Estonian capital, where he hosted the next summit, which will take place next year in Sofia.
An official bilateral visit by the Bulgarian head of state began on Monday. Radev and his wife Desislava Radeva would be greeted with an official ceremony by President Kalulaid and her husband Georgi-Rene Maksimovski. Rumen Radev and Kersti Kalulaid had to have a face-to-face meeting.
Plenary talks between the two delegations were expected, followed by a joint press conference of the presidents.
During his visit to Tallinn, President Rumen Radev will meet with Estonian Prime Minister Yuri Ratas and Estonian Parliament Speaker Hen Piluaas.
The Bulgarian head of state would also visit NATO’s Cyber Defense Center of Excellence in Tallinn. Radev would also visit the e-Estonia innovation center.
