Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s congratulations to the MRF conference is an acknowledgment of ambitions to participate in Bulgarian political life and is inadmissible, Head of State Rumen Radev told “Darik Radio” today. According to him, the driver of this influence is Prime Minister Boyko Borissov.
The MRF conference was held last Saturday and Mustafa Karadayi was re-elected online as the party leader. In a video greeting from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, he spoke of the good neighborly relations between the two countries. Erdogan also congratulated the government for its actions to overcome the coronavirus crisis.
Radev believes that Erdogan’s salute casts a shadow over the MRF’s halo of nationally responsible political force. “Turkey is a friend, a partner, an ally, I do not want this to affect our relations. I hope that we will not achieve relations in March 2017 when the Turkish authorities openly interfered in our electoral protest. I hope that Turkey does not interfere in these elections.” , said the head of state.
Karadayi: Erdogan Speaks As Party Leader
“Obviously, this is a misunderstanding, because the president sees one side of things. Erdogan is the president of Turkey, but we have invited him as the leader of one of the political parties, Turkey,” commented MRF leader Mustafa Karadayi in Darik Radio.
“We have not invited presidents. We have received greetings from the party leaders of all our land and sea neighbors: Turkey, Greece, Macedonia, Serbia, Romania, Russia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan. We have also received greetings from the entire liberal community. of the world”. said the MRF leader.
Karaday noted that in his greeting, Erdogan also mentioned the prime minister’s name, which is normal because the two have good relations. “This is how it should be, once they have a good relationship,” he added.
Radev expects a very fragmented parliament
When asked if there will be a regular or official cabinet after the elections, Radev said he could not predict it. He added that in any case, the next government must begin to dismantle the current model of vicious governance. “The government must show and inspire confidence that Bulgaria can be governed responsibly,” he said.
According to him, the next cabinet will have the support of at least three parties in a highly fragmented parliament. “The problems of our model will manifest themselves: people vote for parties, and when there is no clear majority, all kinds of coalitions and bills start. People cannot be sure who they vote for the most important positions. : prime minister and ministers. Vote for a party, then “There are equations in parliament and it happens that the prime minister and ministers become people you did not expect and did not expect, but this is also a problem of several other democracies”, explained.
When asked if he would run for the next presidential election for a second term, Radev said that was not the issue at this time. “If I decide to go to the polls, I will not pray or make behind-the-scenes agreements with the party headquarters,” said the head of state.
“My dialogue is with honest people, with people on the left who are from my political family and with people from all other political horizons. People who had the courage to go out into the streets and squares and defend freedom, justice and democracy People who earn their living honestly and want to live in a safe and prosperous society, “said Rumen Radev.
He added that before deciding the date of the elections, he would take all factors into account. The president added that the decree with the decision on the date will be published in the Official State Gazette before January 28.
Radev also said that at the moment he does not see any argument to postpone them until after March 28, which he also determined as the most appropriate December 7.
