“I don’t claim to be prime minister or have political power. I have been doing business in Bulgaria for more than 30 years. Sooner or later, success makes you depend on politicians who act as a power group.”
This was stated by the accused businessman Vasil Bozhkov in a video statement, part of the presentation of his project “Bulgarian Summer” on Sunday (November 22). In his speech, he did not name specific politicians, but referred to Borisov’s question of whether he saw Peevski in the mirror, addressing the platform members with “drive so that when you look in the mirror one day, you can see yourself itself”.
The “Bulgarian summer” was announced by the businessman hiding in Dubai in August, then from time to time he made video statements on the subject, and in late October it was announced that an initiative committee had been established, a step towards the match record. Its president is Boril Sokolov, who until 2017 was the marketing director of Eurofootball (one of Bozhkov’s companies).
“At a certain stage of its development one can afford to do good deeds, so I decided to create a “Bulgarian summer”, not a party, but a unique political project, whose mission is to remove the junta from politics and create a way for free, dignified and educated Bulgarians to take control of Bulgaria into their own hands. “I am a businessman, not a politician,” Bozhkov said.
Match not officially established yetbut this must be done if they want to stand in the 2021 parliamentary elections. Boril Sokolov’s speech at the video presentation on Sunday gives the impression that they are preparing for him.

The entire presentation was in a pre-recorded and edited video format, which included statements from the participants in the “Bulgarian Summer” from Bulgaria and abroad and what are the principles and mission of the project. It was broadcast on Facebook. In parts explaining the situation in Bulgaria, comments were made from the leaked recordings, for which there is no rebuttal that they do not belong to Prime Minister Borissov, a statement from the Attorney General and the staff of MRF MP Delyan Peevski. They repeated Bozhkov’s from his interviews and speeches throughout the year on the prosecution as a bat and on the government as a junta.
In two of the goals it is announced that “Bulgarian Summer” will fight against the model “Peevski” – in the first for a “clean state” and the elimination of dependence on the institutions of the mafia, and the other is related to the judiciary. Most of the 25 announced objectives are common, from reforms in all areas to the distribution of EU funds, others more specific, such as the elimination of infant mortality with the provision of medical care, protection of cultural heritage, taxes against harmful business.
“My personal mission is to realize the first Bulgarian political project, which in its basic principles eliminates even the possibility of influence, corruption and dependencies,” Bozhkov said.
There are many questions about the project and its development. But a press conference on Bozhkov was announced for Monday (November 23). He is still in Dubai, at least 18 charges have been brought against him in Bulgaria, and the prosecution soon did not provide information about what is happening with the extradition request.
