Prosecution: negligence or ignorance is the likely cause of the explosion at Arsenal

Neglect or ignorance is the most likely cause. Today it exploded at the Arsenal military plant in Kazanlak, where two workers were slightly injured. This was announced by the press center of the Appellate Prosecutor’s Office in Plovdiv, quoted by BTA. Pre-trial proceedings have been initiated for a crime under art. 134 par. 1 article 2 of the Penal Code.

It was established that in workshop 130 of plant 3 – “Arsenal” AD, two workers, 50 and 41 years old, filled a mixer with a smoke mixture. After closing the machine, they left the room and moved to an adjoining room, from where they started the operation of the mixer by means of a control device. After shaking, smoke started to come out of the mixer and, at the pressure received, the hatch machine lid cracked and flew off.

During the accident, part of the workshop roof structure fell, the windows were broken, the glass was broken. The two workers were injured by the fallen debris. One of them has wounds on both fingers and the other on the foot. They were examined on site by medical teams, there is no danger to their lives.

Witnesses to the incident are being questioned during the pre-trial process.

The legal deadline for completing the investigation is two months.
