Today, tomorrow and Wednesday will be quite winter in most of Bulgaria, but the temperatures will not be very low. This is what climatologist Prof. Georgi Rachev told Novini.bg.
While it rains, in the lower parts of the country the precipitation will be wet snow, and in the higher parts the snow will be dense. In Sofia we already have 8-10 cm of snow cover, but the snowfall is slowly stopping and the forecast is for it to stop throughout Bulgaria by the end of the day, he said.
Good snow will fall, especially over northeastern Bulgaria and the Fore-Balkans, where in the higher parts there will be a snow cover of up to 15 cm. In sensitive places where there is snowfall, the snow cover can exceed 20 cm. waiting for low temperatures. Almost everywhere they will be negative, from minus 3 to minus 8 degrees, and in some places they can go as low as 10 degrees. As of Thursday the “miraculous” winter will fly into the past and a warming will begin, which will practically melt almost everywhere the snow cover and on Saint Nicholas Day, when there should be tents on the table, temperatures will reach 10- 12 degrees, and where there is a south wind. , they can reach 15 degrees, said the climatologist.
The first half of December begins with the typical winter cold and snowfall and will continue with excessively warm weather. The good thing in this case is that there is a rainy season: as a garland for the New Year 4-5 Mediterranean cyclones are lined up, which will move eastward, combined with high atmospheric pressure will pass south over the country and through the country, and they will always bring rain with them, and we need it and desperately need it, especially in eastern Bulgaria, where it is terribly dry, because we send the month of November with rains below the norm, commented Professor Rachev.
Unfortunately, at this time the forecast for Christmas is not very good. For now, the holiday is more likely to be celebrated without snow. The good news is that long-term forecasts put December around 1.5 degrees above normal, with normal and slightly higher than normal rainfall, said Professor Georgi Rachev.
