This was stated to BNT by the virologist Prof. Radka Argirova.
The measurements apparently weren’t observed well enough during the summer months, he said.
We cannot speak of a second wave in Bulgaria, since the first wave is not over, said Professor Argirova.
Our wave is the same. Rather, we have wavy climbs, which I assume will be visible in the future, he said. Where the measures are followed, the number of infected is decreasing, said the virologist.
Regarding the use of masks by young children, Professor Argirova said that the mask is a difficult option for young children and recommended diluting the groups in kindergartens.
It is possible to get two viruses at the same time. It is better to follow the measures to avoid complications: serious bacterial infections, said the virologist.
The COVID-19 outbreak is still focal, he said. There is a seasonal flu vaccine that we should be vaccinated with, Professor Argirova recommended.
There is a vaccine in Russia. It is said to give a very high percentage of antibodies. This vaccine is currently the only one that has been declared to exist. There is a vaccine only in China. Two vaccines Astra Zeneca and Modern are expected, she said.
In answer to the question why many Bulgarians do not believe in the virus, the virologist said that this may be the case, since between 20 and 25 percent pass through the virus completely asymptomatically.
