Prof.Baltov: There are still people who believe that COVID-19 is a conspiracy

“It is important that those in quarantine observe the quarantine. I know of people who continue to go to work despite this. There are those who still believe that such a virus does not exist and that everything is a conspiracy theory. This was stated by the director of” Pirogov “Prof. Asen Baltov in the study of” Hello, Bulgaria “.

“It was absolutely unacceptable for some to claim that the coronavirus had herd immunity. This is not a simple flu. It does not have that immunity and there is no way to acquire it,” said the doctor. He added: “For people who have had the disease but not they have antibodies, there is a risk of re-infection. “We have cases of this type in Bulgaria.”

He warned that coronavirus deaths could reach 5,000 by the end of the year.

Regarding the decision to establish a COVID hospital and a “clean” hospital in each district, Baltov believes that this is applicable to large cities. “In smaller settlements, however, it is difficult for a large hospital to adapt just for coronavirus patients.” Part of this may be for these patients, but there is no way it will all be just for them, “he said.

Prof.Baltov: You can work without a mask if you have antibodies

“At the moment we have done everything possible. Even in Pirogov, the capacity for those infected with coronavirus is not complete. However, there are currently not enough resuscitation beds in Sofia. They are enough if everyone is intubated, but it is not so, “said Professor Baltov.

According to him, it is good that students continue to learn online. “I think the wearing of masks by students in grades 1-4 should also be mandatory, not recommended,” he added.

Prof.Baltov: The new measures are too light

Professor Asen Baltov insisted that there is currently a shortage of drugs. The problem was its not so good distribution.

According to him, when people take antibiotics uncontrollably, the risk of developing bacterial strains resistant to antibiotics increases. And this can have a fatal end for man.

“At the first symptoms, take antipyretics and vitamins, do not start taking antibiotics right away. They are included when necessary on the fifth or sixth day,” said Professor Baltov.
