Prof. Asen Baltov Staff: “Channel 3”
Five days is not long enough to respond to tests for a possible coronavirus infection. At least 7 days must elapse. However, the quarantine will be kept for 10 days and will not be reduced to 7. This was what Professor Asen Baltov told “Channel 3”.
He noted that he hopes Prime Minister Boyko Borissov’s illness will pass easily.
Regarding President Radev Baltov, he said that he should be quarantined because of the Polish president. despite today’s negative test. “If you need more testing, the president can tell RHI.” Their opinion is that Radev should be quarantined for 10 days. According to Professor Baltov, 14 days of quarantine for patients and 10 days for contacts is enough.
There are 40 infected by medical personnel every day and this is a problem, said the director of “Pirogov”. “But anyone who has sworn to be a doctor knows that they will encounter life-threatening situations. There is a diffuse spread in Sofia that cannot be controlled.”
If Professor Baltov starts producing a coronavirus vaccine by the end of the year, in the next 3-6 months it will be widely available around the world. He hopes to have a coronavirus vaccine in Bulgaria by spring. Baltov said he would not get a flu shot, nor would he vaccinate his children, but he would recommend that their parents get a flu shot.
The treatment of the coronavirus is based on the perception of the treating doctors. There is currently no established general drug therapy.
“The problem with the medical personnel in our country cannot be solved suddenly. It is a matter of several years for the young personnel to develop, stay in Bulgaria and receive treatment here.” Currently there is a shortage due to the fact that many doctors are sick.
His personal opinion is that there should be no public at games and restaurants should close before midnight. According to him, schools should not close, but universities can go online.
