Prof. Asen Baltov Staff: BNT

Today there are already 290 new cases, the assets are close to 5000, we are going to that peak again two summer months ago. This relaxation and abandonment in the world and in Europe will lead to poor results. In the next 15 days I expect a significant increase in cases. You see a few days with bad weather that immediately arise cases, calculate what the month of November will be. We are preparing for the worst case scenario. This was stated to BNT by the director of “Pirogov” Prof. Asen Baltov.

Estimates that there will be about 20,000 cases by the end of September are justified. By the end of November, they can reach 30,000 cases. We need to think of some new kind of scheme. There are certain areas where more severe measures may be necessary. I think there should be a tightening of the measures, but not in the way it was, he said.

There are no minor cases in Pirogov. The fact that someone thinks they don’t have COVID is their problem. The Hungarians have already passed us in the number of active cases. At the moment, the capacity of beds we have is sufficient. It was very appropriate to make a separate hospital for COVID. The problem in Bulgaria is that there is no one to care for these hospitals. I think several hospitals are taking the hit right now, Prof Baltov explained.

COVID-19 is treated the same way it was treated from the beginning. There are some improvements, but the quarantine remains. Until recently, more young people got sick because they did not follow the measures much and they themselves thought that if they got infected they would get it very easily. Unfortunately, they do not suffer, but their elderly parents and relatives, he added.

I believe that the National Operational Headquarters should be restored and not wait until the end of October or November, when it may be too late. And make the algorithm work from November 1. People must understand that this is not done against their will, but to help them, concluded the director of “Pirogov”.
