The European People’s Party group will not support the resolution on Bulgaria in today’s vote, BNR reported.
A statement from his deputy, Esteban González Pons, said that some parliamentary groups had turned the document into a party tool rather than using it for EU purposes, and that the text should be returned to its redrafting. “This text is inaccurate, unsubstantiated in some respects, and some of the points have little to do with pressing issues,” he said in a statement.
“The text calls for the continuation of the cooperation and verification mechanism, despite indications from the Commission that Bulgaria can be eliminated based on the progress made,” said the MEP.
Esteban González asks Bulgarian citizens to exercise their democratic right by voting in the elections next March.
