At least six people were injured
A powerful explosion exploded in a building in the center of Madrid, world agencies and Spanish media reported.
The explosion occurred on Toledo Street at 2.30 am local time. Thick smoke rises over the seven-story building.
At least six people were injured, one of them in serious condition, reported Diario.es.
According to the Daily Mail, there is at least one person under the ruins of the building.
The building is located near a school.
Images posted on social media show a destroyed part of the building. Four floors of a building adjoining a nursing home were destroyed. Residents of the nursing home were not injured.
Police, firefighters and emergency services personnel were dispatched to the scene.
So far there is no information on the cause of the explosion, according to some assumptions it is possible that the explosion was caused by a gas leak.
People in the accident area were evacuated.
