Witnesses say the ground shook for 30 seconds. There is great destruction and collapsed residential buildings. Rescuers fear that people will be buried under the rubble. According to NTV in the Bayrakli district of Izmir, ten houses were destroyed. There is also destruction in the Bornova neighborhood in Izmir, reports TASS.

Turkish Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu said that at least six buildings had been destroyed. Meanwhile, the governor of Izmir province, Tunch Sawyer, announced the demolition of at least 20 houses. “To date, six houses are known to have been destroyed in Bornova and Bayrakli districts in Izmir,” the minister wrote on his Twitter page.
