Etar’s coach Petko Petkov commented on the situation at the club. Today he was in Veliko Tarnovo and had a meeting with the mayor of the city, the engineer Daniel Panov. In an interview with Veliko Tarnovo Sport, the coach said the information about the difficult financial situation in the club was exaggerated and asked journalists to stop dealing with the “boys”.
Does the Elite club remain unlicensed?
– Mr. Petkov, first of all, how are you? Are all the players healthy?
– Everyone is healthy, the children are carrying out the program we gave them and trying to keep fit. I know this is difficult at home. We stay in touch and look forward to the moment when we are allowed to train together.
– You gave them an individual training program, right?
– Yes, they have a program for each day as exercises. I hope that as professionals they do what they are given. Recently they allowed individual sports, I hope that soon they will allow team training.
– What awaits you in the near future?
– We are awaiting the decisions of the headquarters and the Bulgarian Football Union. With the end of the state of emergency, collective sports should also be allowed. We will comply with the decisions, things do not depend on us …
– You must also comply with anti-epidemic measures то
– There will probably be tests for the players. The Bulgarian Football Union has already promised to provide the evidence. Of course, we will continue to meet certain training requirements, we hope to quickly re-establish the training process. We already have a plan for pre-game preparation and are awaiting the final decision from the venue.
– The Bulgarian Football Union is considering three options for the championship: only two rounds, full playoffs or shortened playoffs. What do you prefer as a coach?
– I couldn’t say anything, it all depends on the date the championship will start and what time we have. On the one hand, it should be noted that a compressed cycle after this break would be very dangerous to health. On the other hand, the complete format of the championship is the fairest for each team to take its place. Hopefully the championship ends normally. We are eager to start the official matches. I hope this happens in the first weeks of June, but the venue will decide.
– Mr Petkov, the most pressing question is how things are financially. Today you had a meeting with Mayor Daniel Panov …
– I have an appeal to sports journalists and the general public, to take your hands off Ether! In this time of general crisis in the economy and a time of survival, talking about wage delays and license revocation is quite exaggerated. This is the time to thank the Municipality of Veliko Tarnovo and Mayor Daniel Panov, who are making efforts to make soccer in Veliko Tarnovo exist. I am sure of the management and personally of the mayor that all the debts will be paid and everything will be fine as before.
