The cases of patients who came to the Dupnitsa Emergency Center with bleeding due to poor self-treatment with aspirin at home are more and more frequent.
“Aspirin is a drug that is distributed in the pharmacy network. As a drug, it is sold with the corresponding written instructions. It explicitly states how it should be taken and what the side effects are,” explained Dr. Krassimir Orozov of CSMP – Dupnitsa .
According to the doctor, aspirin cannot be defined as a harmless treatment.
“When a drug is abused, it has side effects. These with aspirin can be different. In a healthy person it can cause irritation of the gastric mucosa, which can manifest itself in various symptoms, even pain. If a person has an ulcer, for example , aspirin can cause great irritation, pain and bleeding, “added Dr. Orozov.
The doctor recommended that patients consult their personal physician before taking certain medications.
The Dupnitsa emergency center has many infected doctors. There, doctors and nurses make all kinds of sacrifices for the sake of providing medical care to the people of the city.
Currently, five doctors, six medical specialists, a nurse and six drivers with coronavirus are absent. The workload is quite high. However, the patients are cared for, “said Senior Nurse Yordanka Ivanova.
