“There is no new funding. There is money that comes from EU projects for a thousand levs on the front line for hospitals. This money, which is being talked about next year, its effect will become a fact next year. Practically not there are new funds for this year. Only the colleagues who work in the COVID rooms received 1,000 BGN each. They had to put up with much longer. ” This was stated in the “EuroDicoF” program on Eurocom TV by the president of the Bulgarian Medical Union, Dr. Ivan Madkharov.
On December 4, the BMA issued an open letter to Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, saying that the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) was behaving as if there was no pandemic and neglecting the situation. In their letter, the Bulgarian Medical Union insists on an urgent meeting with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria, in which the problems pointed out by them will be discussed.
Dr. Madjarov explained that only yesterday a meeting was scheduled for next Monday (November 14, 2020) with Prime Minister Borissov, which refers to the problems with the NHIF.
“Yesterday there was a reaction (on the last day), only yesterday we have an invitation for a meeting on Monday with the Prime Minister. We did not set the Prime Minister’s agenda, but we expected this meeting to be earlier. For the period since the beginning of the pandemic so far we have no meeting with the Prime Minister, “said the president of the BMA.
According to him, opening COVID wards is difficult because there is a shortage of infectious disease specialists.
“Strong measures are needed by the State to guarantee the commitments assumed with the doctors. The BMA signed the annex, but said we were concerned. The budget of the National Health Insurance Fund has passed in the plenary hall, where they are delivered funding for COVID-19, ” Dr. Madjarov commented.
“These 1,000 levs are expected to be paid before the New Year, after the New Year,” sorry, “he noted significantly.
“There are too many beds in the Bulgarian health system, they just had to be restructured for an influx of pneumonia patients,” said Dr. Ivan Madkharov.
