One tourist was killed and 5 injured in the Kabela trail area and the Zhaltets area below Botev Peak.
“24 Chasa” learned from his sources that the deceased fell in the Zhaltets area. His partner escaped more easily when he fell.
Three tourists went off the Kabela tourist trail.
The main reason for accidents is hard snow, which is higher.
“People underestimate the hot weather in the mountains, which is misleading, the south wind is blowing,” said a longtime mountain rescuer.
As they slipped, the tourists fell onto the icy slope of several hundred meters. Rescuers said nothing could stop them. And the survivors were very lucky. Just the presence of a pickle could slow down the hasty flight, but tourists didn’t have such alpine gear.
Currently more than 30 rescuers from the Troyan, Lovech and Sopot detachments are on the ground. They help to get injured tourists out of the mountain range; one of them is in a particularly serious condition.
Today there has been another incident in the same area. The reason: unsuitable equipment for the winter mountains.
