Botev (Plovdiv) continued his rubric, in which supporters of the yellow blacks ask questions of their favorite players. Team captain Lachezar Baltanov answered questions today. As usual Plovdiv24.bg Introduce readers to the midfielder’s responses to the Rocks.
What is it like to be a captain of Botev?
It is an honor and a great responsibility for me to be captain of a team as big as Botev (Pd) with so many fans. The feeling is wonderful.
What is your favorite goal?
I can’t determine exactly what my favorite goal is. I can say three goals: one against Lokomotiv Plovdiv in 2015 in the mud we played in Lauta, against CSKA in last year’s semifinals and perhaps against Levski.
Do you have an idol?
I have two idols who unfortunately no longer play soccer. One is David Beckham and the other is the Ronaldo phenomenon. Really great players.
Which young player from Botev’s school do you see as your heir?
I am very fond of Botev’s young talents. It is difficult for someone to approach me; I’m kidding, of course. But above all, I like it and I like Mitko Tonev because he also plays in my position.
What is the most memorable match you played in?
Naturally, I will say the Cup final that we won against Ludogorets. I have another memorable match: my debut in the Champions League against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

In which stadium do you want to play more?
Although I sympathize with Manchester United, I would very much like to play against Anfield in front of his rostrum.
What do you like to do in your free time?
Three and a half years have passed since my daughter was born and all my free time is for her. I’m totally committed to that in games and fun when naturally I’m not in training and camping.
How did you feel at the end with the “buffers” in the last referee?
I had the feeling that my legs had been cut and that I could no longer play soccer. In fact, this was one of the most difficult moments of my career.
What do you think of Christian Dimitrov as a soccer player?
It has grown tremendously in the past 2 years. Make a good transfer, at a good age. I know his qualities and his character very well, and I think he will play high-level soccer.
As team captain, what do you think of Nikola Iliev’s statement that Botev is not an option for him?
I wish Nicholas is alive and well! And to really play big football, because it has many qualities, but you should always be grateful that Botev has given you a path in its development and firmly stepped on the ground.
What is the feeling of playing with the king of Plovdiv Todor Nedelev? (The question is asked by Nedelev’s girlfriend – Anita Terziyska)
A lot can be said about Toshko, but I just want to wish him well and well. And to continue to delight in the same way, people, not only Botev fans, but also football fans, because it has wonderful qualities.
Have you thought about what you will do after the end of your career?
It could still be related to soccer. I don’t know which post, but I’ve been doing it all my life and I hope to be healthy for a year to play, and then we’ll see.
Who is your best friend on the team?
To tell the truth, I get into the team a lot with all the boys, we are a super team. I can’t say who my best friend is because I have a great relationship with everyone.
What is Botev Plovdiv for you, what did it give you and what did it teach you?
Botev taught me responsibility, it is an honor for me to be the team captain. Show me intransigence and always do your best for the team.
What kind of music do you listen to?
I listen to all kinds of music, but I’m not one of the people who listens to a lot of music.
What is your favorite food?
I am not very pretentious with food, but I am looking for a diet. But I really love the food my wife cooks.
What other sport are you a fan of?
I really like tennis.
