“Neither the people who work in the territorial direction of the National Revenue Agency (ANR) are incompetent, nor the materials they have prepared were with omissions and incorrect things.” Thus, the Minister of Finance, Kiril Ananiev, commented on the decision of the Administrative Court of Sofia, which a week ago raised three seizures of assets of companies of the accused businessman Vasil Bozhkov, reported BGNES.
Minister Ananiev participated in the parliamentary scrutiny on Friday, where, at the insistence of the opposition, he provided information on the collection of fees owed for the gambling business for the period 2015-2019.
However, MP Rumen Gechev insisted that the minister explain how the court came to accept that the arrests were “mechanically imposed” and that the director of the National Revenue Agency in Sofia did not have the necessary evidence for them. “Either they are incompetent or they deliberately allowed it,” suggested the deputy.
“A matter of legal proceedings. Cases are being carried out. This is what the court decided, this is what it ordered and that decision was made. I cannot blame my colleagues for these things that you blame them for. Based on the activity of the territorial directorates of the National Revenue Agency, the entire public sector exists and is supported ”, responded Minister Ananiev.
From the responses of the Minister of Finance, it became clear that in the latest and greatest gambling scandal – the nearly BGN 700 million uncollected from state fees of Vasil Bozhkov’s “National Lottery” company, the NRA has collected “crumbs” (according to Gechev). Specifically in these cases, the agency managed to collect only BGN 8 million, through seizures of movable and immovable property and other precautionary measures.
Ten days ago it became clear that the BGN 300 million seizures against Bozhkov’s companies fell in court. The reasons – “the imposition of mechanical acts and without evidence,” wrote in the court decision.
From the rostrum of parliament, he praised the divisions of the Tax Agency and stressed that each year the revenue destined to finance the budget sector increases.
“And this year, in a pandemic, they are doing it brilliantly again. It is wrong to blame colleagues at the National Revenue Agency,” he also addressed MP Rumen Gechev.
