Tight shoes, old blankets that had been collecting dust for years, or dead batteries in the remote. All these problems seem incompatible, but they have the same solution: freezing. Just put them in the chamber or freezer for a while and they’ll be like new. And these are not the only things that low temperatures can do for you.

Shoe enlargement. You have bought a new pair of beautiful shoes or boots, but at home you find that they are too tight for you. Please do not rush to return or give them away. Just fill the bags with water, tie them tightly and put them in your new shoes, then put them in the freezer. From the low temperature, the water will expand and, with it, your shoes.

Old quilts. Rearrange your grandmother’s old dressers or attic and find wonderful blankets and duvets, which, however, have been forgotten and … dusty. If you have a large freezer, put the blankets in it and then wash them in hot water. In this way you can destroy all the bacteria and mites that have accumulated in the material.

Chewing gum or wax on clothing. Who has not stuck gum or wax on his blouse and has not separated from his favorite clothes due to such stains. There is no need for such sacrifices, ice is also your friend in this case. Rub the area with an ice cube and the stain will disappear. If it doesn’t clear completely, place a sheet of paper on top of the wax and iron it on top. The wax will melt and stick to the paper. If the wax is on dishes or furniture, freeze a piece of cloth and after it hardens well, rub the place with it.

Pantyhose. Stitch stockings are every woman’s nightmare. If you want to strengthen your pantyhose, soak it in warm water and put it in a plastic bag. Then leave it in the chamber overnight and dry at room temperature. The fibers of the otherwise thin fabric will be tight and last longer.

Batteries If you use nickel cadmium nickel metal hydride batteries at home, you can extend their life and durability by placing them in the freezer for a while and then waiting for them to “rest” at room temperature before using them. . Note that the method does not work with alkaline batteries.

Candles Sleeping in the freezer prolongs the life of the candles. At low temperatures, the wax will harden and then burn more slowly.

FOLIO. Transparent foil is a good housewife’s first friend: for storing fruits and vegetables, for covering various products and even for extending the shelf life of various raw materials. Sometimes, however, she is not quite in shape. It has probably happened at some point that the foil sticks and breaks into thin strips and pieces and thus becomes unusable. Put it in the freezer for a few hours and then it will serve you faithfully until the end of the package, as the moisture will “make” it soften.

Cream cheese. Plain yogurt and kefir will magically turn into your favorite cream cheese spread on a slice after just one night in the freezer. Freeze them well and then let them break up in the blender. The rest is a matter of choice, whether it’s to spread thinly on a slice or to make the family’s favorite cheesecake.

French fries. You have probably noticed that when you open the fries, but you cannot eat them right away, otherwise, the crunchy chunks become soft and unpleasant when eating. To avoid this side effect, close the package tightly with the remaining chips and leave it in the chamber or freezer. This will preserve the hardness and brittleness of the potato pieces it contains. And you don’t need to defrost them before eating.

Arc. In order not to irritate the eyes when cutting onions, leave it cold for 15-20 minutes, so that you can cope with the unpleasant obligation quickly, easily and without tears. And the flavor of the onions will not change.

Delicious icicles. If you want frozen drinks to be colorful, tasty, and look good on the table, you can put seasonal fruit or mint in the cans and add a little water. Once frozen, the colorful and delicious cubes can be put into lemonade, wine, water, and whatever else you prefer to drink. Your guests will also be delighted.

Butter. Melt the butter, add spices or aromatic herbs and freeze in the freezer. Then it can become a nice treat for guests, a convenient topping for hot bagels, or a practical solution when you cook something quickly and have a tasty topping for stewed meat or vegetables.
