In the third game, the two played fairly evenly, but after 40:40, the Croatian took his pass and went ahead with 2: 1. In the fourth game, Pironkova led with 30: 0, but allowed the tie – 30:30, led with 40:30, but followed a new tied, Vekic even got an advantage, but in the end Pironkova managed to win and tie at 2: 2 for a total of 15 minutes of play.

A new exchange of games followed when both players took their passes and reached 3: 3. In one of the most important matches, the seventh Pironkova managed to break Vekić’s pass and went ahead with 4: 3, but the Croatian managed to return the break immediately to equalize 4: 4. In the ninth game, a new advance in favor of the Bulgarian tennis player followed and she took the lead with 5: 4, then solidified the advance and won the first set with 6: 4 in 39 minutes of game.

In the second set, the two started again with a 1: 1 serve. In the third game, Pironkova tried and led with 2: 1, then confirmed the break and led with 3: 1. The Plovdiv woman continued her excellent game and tried again 4: 1, and Vekic’s stamina seemed to start to wear off. After taking her pass in the sixth game, Pironkova made a third lead in this set and won 6: 1.

In the round of 16, Pironkova will play the winner of the match between Madison Keys (USA, №7) and Alize Cornet (France). Thus, Pironkova repeats here her best achievement since 2012, when she also reached this phase of the race.
