Valeri Simeonov’s NFSB deputies have already signed GERB’s draft constitution, 24 Chasa newspaper learned. However, Krassimir Karakachanov’s IMRO party is still negotiating with its most important partner in government.
Talks continue at this time, sources said. Two weeks ago, Karakachanov set the condition that he would sign the draft of a new constitution if it included six demands from the party, including educational qualifications to vote in elections, the introduction of compulsory military service, the expansion of presidential powers and others.
For the draft to be presented to the parliament office, 120 deputies must sign it. Now a total of 104-95 from GERB and 9 from NFSB have signed under him. IMRO has 12 deputies. If they agree to sign the draft, four independent MPs will also have to seek support, after the BSP, MRF and Volia refused to support the GERB texts. There are currently nine independent members of Parliament. Six of them are members of Ataka, who left the United Patriots group last year. Among them are two former BSP MPs, Spas Panchev and Alexander Paunov, as well as a former MRF MP, Angel Isaev.
Wait for details!
