New cases of COVID-19 have been identified, transporting carriers on two planes from the Netherlands that landed at Sofia airport on May 1, headquarters of the Haskovo regional crisis reported. The possible future outbreak of the disease in Dimitrovgrad was prevented due to the reaction of the institutions, the headquarters said.

A 36-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman have felt bad in the Netherlands and have called their GP in Bulgaria, who have been told they intend to return to the country. The doctor, in turn, informed the members of the Municipal Crisis Staff in Dimitrovgrad, and brought the information to the attention of the Regional and National Crisis Staff.

The family was received by the authorities at the Sofia airport. They have been tested with rapid tests that are positive for coronavirus infection. They are currently hospitalized at a medical center in Sofia, said the regional headquarters in Haskovo.

They also report that a total of 118 passengers were traveling on the flight in question, 17 of whom were Haskovo residents. Of these, 12 are from the municipality of Haskovo, three from the municipality of Dimitrovgrad and two from the municipality of Svilengrad. If the PSR test confirms the positive positive family tests, all passengers will be screened for COVID-19. Everyone who arrived on the flight received quarantine orders.

With another flight from the Netherlands, again on May 1, two women from the Haskovo municipality arrived at the Sofia airport and were later found to have positive PSR tests. They were made in the country where they came from. Despite the warnings from the Dutch medical authorities, the two women made the trip and returned to our country. From the airport to their home in the Haskovo municipality, they traveled by taxi, according to the study.

A total of 54 passengers traveled on this flight, of which two people from Harmanli Municipality and two from Topolovgrad Municipality are residents of the Haskovo region. They will all be sampled over the next two days. Contact points are being established and will be placed under a 14-day quarantine, secured by the Haskovo Regional Crisis Headquarters.
