Future drivers who are about to get a driver’s license are in an absurd situation. The Bulgarian Red Cross suspended its first aid courses until December 21, including for candidate drivers. However, the driving lessons and driving tests have not stopped. Therefore, future drivers, even if they pass the exam before the State Automobile Inspectorate, cannot receive their traffic police books due to the lack of a certificate from the Bulgarian Red Cross.

“By order of the Minister of Health, all courses in the country have been canceled and the Bulgarian Red Cross, as the responsible institution, has stopped the courses for candidates for motor vehicle drivers, which are held in person at our training offices. This can cause inconvenience to people who want to obtain their driving license immediately, but let’s not forget that health is above all. That is why the Minister of Health made this order and we are all obliged to obey, ”said Dr. Nadezhda Todorovska – Deputy Director General of the Bulgarian Red Cross on the BNT morning block.

He stressed that the first aid courses are for people who are expected to help in a car accident. In all eight lessons there is a practice on mannequins, which makes distance learning impossible.

“At first glance, they are elementary things, but they save lives,” said Dr. Todorovska.

Krassimir Georgiev – Chairman of the Board of the Association for the Qualification of Motorists in Bulgaria was also included in the conversation.

“The discrepancy is huge, we say we have a market economy, but not quite.” In a market economy, monopoly is unacceptable, and the state and the relevant authorities are the pillar to prevent this from happening. Yet they create a monopoly without ceremony. I respect the Bulgarian Red Cross as a very serious organization, without which it cannot be done, but that respect reaches this far ”, he was categorical.

According to him, the training was interrupted by the Bulgarian Red Cross even before the state had to be partially closed.

“They can interrupt it, renew it, because there are no others. How legitimate this moment is in the ordinance, where it is written that only the Bulgarian Red Cross can take these courses, is a question on which we will go to the government. If the problem is not resolved, we will seek a decision in the courts, “Georgiev warned on national television.
