The title fight in the professional boxing heavyweight category between champion Anthony Joshua and Bulgarian contender Kubrat Pulev will likely take place on December 12 at London’s O2 Arena, the BoxingScene website states, referring to information from the camps for both boxers.

The duel for the belt in the WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO versions was originally scheduled for June 20 at Tottenham’s 70,000-seat stadium in London, but this option failed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“Yes, Dec. 12 at O2 is an important option,” Joshua’s manager Eddie Hearn told the site, hoping fans could enter the facility. Hearn recalls that the plans of the island authorities are in the country’s sporting events from October to allow spectators to reach up to 25 percent of the capacity of the facilities.

“We are happy that the match organization is back on track and now we have a new date and venue,” said promoter John Wirth, who is one of Pulev’s promoters at Top Rank.

According to him, the small details should be clarified before the final signing of the contract and he expects this to happen by the end of the week.

The most important details concern the distribution of the prize fund. Joshua’s staff proposal is a 65:35 ratio in favor of the British.
