Historically, the activity of citizens in US elections in the first 24 hours did not bring an answer to the most interesting question: who will be president in the next 4 years. And the unpleasant thing is that the result can be known in weeks.

– The battle between President Donald Trump and the Democratic candidate, former Vice President Joe Biden, has come down to 7 states. These are Pennsylvania, Nevada, Arizona, Georgia, North Carolina, and Wisconsin and Maine (there are still a number, but at least two media outlets have declared victory in the state for the Democrat).
– The results hardly moved all day. and in the end there are 253 votes for Biden and 214 for Trump (it takes at least 270 to win the White House)
– Democrats won’t get a majority in the Senate, although they had one of the best chances in many years (they were given a shot in 12 of 14 particularly contested places; so far the score is 46 to 48 in favor of Republicans at the threshold of a majority of 51)
– Democrats retain their lead in the House of Representatives, but Republicans win 4 more representatives, a surprising result after four years of Republican rule, which should strongly activate the opposition (so far the result is 191 against 180 congressmen in favor of the Democrats on the threshold of a majority of 218 )
– Biden headquarters radiates a fairly subdued confidence in victory and ask for patience while Trump’s started challenging the vote or the results in front of the judge; Attorneys say the outcome of bringing attorneys into the process could cause you to bog down in state-by-state cases and release the outcome in weeks or months.
– Sociologists and the media have again been criticizedthat they did not know in their forecasts and valuations. This is not entirely true, because they warned that although he has a guaranteed advantage in the general vote (currently more than 2.5 million votes), Joe Biden will face an uphill battle head-to-head. But it is true that the importance of the pandemic was exaggerated among the motives of the voters, while, at least in the first hours after election day, it turns out that the majority were concerned about the state of the economy. And the assessment of many is that the situation is not so bad with the economy and the fight against the coronavirus.
