Remdesivir will be used initially for critically ill patients in the intensive care unit. This was stated by the head of the Military Medical Academy (MMA) and president of the National Operations Staff, Major General Prof. Ventsislav Mutafchiiski, in front of journalists during the distribution of the drug “Remdesivir” to regional health inspections, reported the FOCUS news agency.
“Of course, not everyone can benefit from Remedesivir, at least due to its limited amount, and it is not necessary for patients with mild symptoms who are suitable for home treatment. Initially, this is for seriously ill people who are they are in the intensive care unit, ”he added.
Professor Mutafchiiski explained that he could not give accurate statistics and the number of people who were helped by the drug, explaining: “The total amount we had in the Military Medical Academy has already been used up.”
As for whether new deliveries will arrive, he said: “Some things are never enough, but for seriously ill patients, this gives us peace of mind in the coming days to attend to the next shipment.
Major General Mutafchiiski noted that it remains to be seen how much of the medicine will be available to the Military Medical Academy. “
“Contraindications are a highly debated topic for this preparation, but again it can be said with certainty that allergic reactions are an absolute contraindication to the use of this preparation,” commented the director of the Military Medical Academy.
