Parliament approved texts on the second reading health law related to tourism.

The measures relating to the concessionaires and tenants of the sea beaches are valid from June 1, 2020. They impose the obligation to provide visitors with beach accessories: umbrellas and deckchairs at discounted prices in no less than 50% of the prices for the 2019 season or the maximum under the respective contract.

Concessionaires or tenants who do not fulfill their obligations will be punished with a property sanction in the amount of BGN 50,000. A fine in the amount of BGN 100,000 is provided for repeated violations, “Focus” reports.

MEPs also adopted some deadlines related to these texts. By May 25, 2020, the concessionaire or lessee will notify the Minister of Tourism of beach equipment prices for the summer season 2020. By May 30, 2020, the Minister of Tourism will notify the concessionaire or lessee according to a methodology to reduce the amount of the concession fee or the rental price by 2020.

The deadline for the adoption of the methodology by the Council of Ministers is January 23, 2020.

Earlier in the day, lawmakers adopted a text that provides for the state to subsidize charter flights to Bulgaria for foreign tourists at € 35 per seat.
