The Ministry of Health investigates the case of the 33-year-old deceased man with COVID-19, who did not wait for the ambulance team. This was stated in “This Sunday” by the Minister of Health, Prof. Kostadin Angelov. According to him, if violations of unfulfilled rights or obligations are established, there will be sanctions.

“There will be no caresses. You saw that yesterday I demanded the resignation of the director of the Fourth City Hospital. It took me 20 seconds to realize that there was no organization there. I cannot consider it normal for an ambulance to wait hours for the patient to be taken down and at the same time time to have a 33-year-old waiting for an ambulance, ”said Professor Angelov.

He added that his quarantine expires on Monday (Professor Angelov is in contact with Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, who is infected with COVID-19) and returns to work, personally inspecting work in the capital’s main hospitals.

The Health Minister insisted that it is absurd to require PCR tests from patients for hospitalization, given that the state has provided funds and there is a clinical pathway for these cases. “The ambulance cannot sit in front of the hospital with the patient, they take him to the medical institution and there it is specified. (…) And if this person is for a hospital, he is housed!”

He gasps either I know the capital Urgent help?

Professor Kostadinov said equipment has been provided for the capital’s emergency aid, which has been alarming for days because it is overloaded and cannot handle all the signals. According to the Ministry of Health, yesterday in Sofia there were 414 calls to 112, and at night, 284.

“The situation is extremely tense. We need more cars, we have provided them through the Ministry of the Interior, where 25 buses are provided. On Monday I will meet with all the private ambulances, which according to preliminary estimates are about 100, we will also meet with one taxi company that could provide cars. The idea is to take these people to medical institutions as soon as possible, “said the corresponding minister.

He clarified that he would require large hospitals to place vans at entrances to screen patients with COVID-19 symptoms who cannot be examined by a doctor.

The problem since hospitalizations

The line minister said that it was not the job of citizens to call hospitals and look for places of hospitalization. According to him, since last night in the territory of Sofia there is no problem with beds.

“I cannot accept the fact that in case of an order to stop the admission and planned operations, all those who say that the hospitals have no activity and will injure people, at the same time, these hospitals will not be able to open additional beds! This does not make sense! If the directors of all medical institutions listened to me, there would be no forgiveness for absolutely no one! Since there are free beds in the medical institution, there are no patients and no planned operations, to reveal the maximum number of beds! “Professor Angelov was outraged.

Regarding rapid tests, the minister said the agency had not received confirmation from the Center for Infectious and Parasitic Hospitals on whether they could be an alternative to PCR. A study has shown that the prices of antigen tests in Bulgaria are extremely different, from 10 to 23 BGN. “The Ministry of Health is committed to providing the cheapest and most efficient to colleagues who are on the front line to be able to carry out the detection. At the moment, these tests cannot replace PCR,” he added.

Rejection in treatment

According to Minister Angelov, it is unacceptable for any doctor to join the battle against COVID-19. He explained that he did not understand his colleagues who refused to treat coronavirus patients and resigned.

“Fear cannot guide us in the decision-making process. I am referring to large hospitals. Surely there are small medical establishments in the country, which will be the last to hire. Yes, if they are of a certain age, they may have their reasons and to leave, but in the large medical institutions, in the university structures, especially in Sofia – to say that there are no people who want and do not want to join – is incomprehensible to me “, specified the Minister of Health.

He added that a legal amendment is being prepared for these cases to regulate them. “If there aren’t that many doctors to come, I’ll go in!” I will also ask the Bulgarian MPs, who are doctors, to take off their suits, get dressed and go to hospitals! ”He added.

Measures against the spread of COVID-19

Prof. Angelov stated that no new measures are foreseen, but that the control should be stricter. According to him, law enforcement officers are involved for this purpose.

“If these measures are followed, everything will fit. There is no way we can say that the discos will not work and the media will publish videos where someone smokes a water pipe and says:” There is no coronavirus here, everything is fine. “Well, Is this the conscience of the Bulgarians? Is this how we should do it? Let’s find a way to circumvent the law, is this normal behavior, “the Health Minister was outraged.

He called on people to limit their social contacts and outings so that the pressure on the health system can be reduced.
