The Turkish government has increased the monthly minimum wage for next year by around 500 Turkish lira (54.90 euros at the current exchange rate) compared to 2020, BTA reports.
The Minister of Labor and Social Welfare, Zehra Zumrut Selcuk, announced that the gross monthly minimum wage in 2021 will be 3,557 Turkish liras, which is about 391 euros (compared to 2,943 Turkish liras in 2020), after finalizing the disputed negotiations. between trade unions and the Commission for the determination of the minimum wage in Turkey.
The net minimum wage will be 2,825 Turkish liras, which is around 308 euros (compared to 2,325 pounds in 2020).
According to the minister, the amount of 2,825 Turkish liras applies to single people and employees without children. The monthly minimum wage for family workers and parents will be 3,313 Turkish liras.
The Social Minister also said that “the decrees of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan have initiated incentive programs worth more than 45 billion pounds of support to reduce the negative effects of the pandemic.
We pay social security contributions of TL 2.5 billion to more than 3 million workers. However, the unions did not agree with the government’s decision.
