They opened a counterfeit money printing press at a university in the center of Sofia! During a search, they found printed euro and dollar banknotes for more than BGN 13 million. The banknotes are not of very good quality, experts say. Two people were arrested.
Police and prosecutors enter three addresses in Sofia. The action comes after a few months ago the services of our country received operational information about the next money counterfeiters. During the searches, the researchers found a large number.

Work on the case began several months ago. During the last 24 hours, raids and seizures were carried out in three homes, where 4 million dollars and 3 million and 600 thousand euros were found.
The activity was carried out on the territory of a higher education institution by a person who had an employment contract for a printer at the same institution.
“The printing house is sealed. Plates with photographs with images of euro banknotes, plates with photographs of excise labels, plates with photographs for a driver’s license and a sheet with the image of a 50-euro security thread were seized” said prosecutor Kirilova at a briefing.

A 48-year-old man and a 54-year-old woman were detained for 72 hours. Both people do not have a criminal record and have not been convicted. They are part of a more serious network of fake money smuggling to Ukraine and Western Europe.
There are at least two printing presses on the territory of the Sofia Higher School of Transport. They use rented premises and for the first time they found out about the illegal activities of their colleagues. They were dismayed by the police presence. In a briefing, the rector of the “Todor Kableshkov” Higher School of Transport in Sofia, Prof. Daniela Todorova, explained that this morning an inspection was carried out on the school’s territory. However, counterfeit money was found in a room rented from another company.
“We have fully cooperated with the police. SDVR requires that we respond if a certain person has an employment contract with us. I declare to you that there is no contract with such person. The information we have is from the media. I have not received official information about the printing of counterfeit banknotes in a university printing house ”, he explained.
Professor Todorova emphasized that she was not aware of the illegal activity in the printing press.

The press, located in the Higher School of Transportation building, categorically denies the allegations of printing counterfeit money. And the university denies that its employee was involved in printing counterfeit bills. Investigators are not ruling out further arrests.
