SINCE After 3 hours of debate, the parliament approved the report on the work of the prosecution for the last eight months with 117 votes in favor, 61 against and 1 abstention.
All parliamentary groups supported the report presented by Chief Prosecutor Ivan Geshev, except for the BSP deputies and one independent deputy, reports DarikNews.
It was the left that asked the head of the state prosecutor the most questions, and Cornelia Ninova demanded his resignation from the rostrum.
The prosecution will investigate anyone who has violated the law, be it a policeman or a protester, a socially disadvantaged or an oligarch, a minister or a small official in the presidency.
This was stated today by Chief Prosecutor Ivan Geshev in the National Assembly during the presentation of the report on the activity of the prosecution during the last 8 months.
He was adamant that he would not allow the prosecution and chief prosecutor to participate in the apparently ongoing political election campaign.
“We will continue to work without distinction. My request is to show respect to the Bulgarian institutions, the Bulgarian state. A person and a state that do not respect themselves do not respect others. Unfortunately, we often show that we do not respect ourselves. and our own country. Bulgaria had it before us, it will have it after us, “Geshev underlined.
“If someone claims that there is no fight against corruption in Bulgaria, I will admit his thesis if he shows me another period in history after 1989 with better results. Then I would agree,” he added.
According to him, our country is at average levels in this indicator, and not in the top positions, as stated.
Ivan Geshev drew attention to some specific pre-trial proceedings, starting with the accused businessman Vasil Bozhkov, who is still in Dubai.
“To date, I will add something to the case against a person hiding in Dubai. There are two pre-trial proceedings, one involved 11 people. It is important to note that of the 212 cases that have evidence that they are legal registered, after the search found 6678 artifacts, which are stored in boxes with inscriptions from the places in Bulgaria where they were excavated, ”he said.
Geshev also insisted that no heavily armed man had entered the presidency. He clarified that Neno Dimov was not detained, but invited to go home with the supervising prosecutor to continue the search.
In relation to the inspections related to the Prime Minister, Geshev confirmed that there are 3 and Borissov has already given explanations in this regard. They are related to information about a property in an EU country, with leaked audio recordings and photos, for which an expert has been appointed to establish its authenticity.
The first is an inspection regarding the ownership of property in a country outside Bulgaria. What I can say in this case is the following: the Prime Minister’s explanations about this inspection were taken. The last signal is from DG “Boets”, that some media They connect with certain people who are not in Bulgaria, various publications are included in the media, many references are required, many explanations are taken, there is active communication with partner services relevant to the Kingdom of Spain, the result so far is that there is no feedback. Several more explanations and audits will be taken from various companies that are related to the inspection, ”Geshev clarified.
“No policeman can be beaten as much as ours on September 2. These people protected other citizens from being harmed, as well as institutions. Watch the exchange of videos of how the French police proceed, not to mention the American one,” he urged the attorney general.
Geshev: We are not afraid
Parliament is listening today to Ivan Geshev, who reports on the activities of the prosecution in the last 8 months.
Earlier today, the deputies extended the working hours of today’s session until the end of the hearing on the report.
“We want a constant dialogue with the National Assembly and individual commissions, because we are clearly aware that the results expected by Bulgarian society can be achieved through interaction between the authorities and in compliance with the division and control between the authorities. This it includes not only the interaction between the three authorities, but also between the institutions: law enforcement system, court and prosecutor’s office, ”the chief prosecutor quoted today as quoted by BNT.
The session was chaired by Tsveta Karayancheva, who returned to the presidency after lawmakers rejected the resignation demanded by the BSP and the MRF.

Geshev reported nearly 2,300 corruption investigations and 156 convicted of such crimes. He said that the Prosecutor’s Office does not investigate for political reasons, but rather the perpetrators of crimes, and stressed that due to natural causes of corruption, most investigators are government representatives.
