The first hearing in the defamation case, brought by Maya Manolova against Boyko Borisov, is scheduled for today at the Sofia District Court.
Manolova has filed a defamation lawsuit against Borissov over his accusations that in Voluyak, during the campaign for mayor of Sofia, he met with Rome to perform a “vote-buying stunt,” recalls offnews.bg.
At the same time, however, it was a meeting of Maya Manolova with residents of Voluyak on the occasion of undeveloped sewerage, lack of transportation and poor water supply, recalled by “Izpravise.BG”.
On November 7, 2019, Manolova filed a lawsuit against Borisov for BGN 15,000 for non-pecuniary damages for false and shameful allegations. In response, Borissov filed a lawsuit against Manolova on July 3, 2020, in connection with Manolova’s interview with bTV, in which he said that “the man who released, I’m sorry, allowed the Galevi brothers to flee justice and leave the country, in the national air he admitted that they were a factor in the elections for mayors of Sofia.
In his complaint letter, Borisov wrote that “he also began to have sleep problems, experienced disturbances, tension, anger and inconvenience for associating his name with the insulting and defamatory statements of the defendant directed at him.”
He was also “stressed, depressed and upset by the defendant’s illegal interference in his personal sphere and the public violation of his personal and professional authority and reputation.”
However, the accidental distribution of the Borissov vs. Manolova case took place after the expiration of the deadline according to court rules, rather than the end of the day on July 3, when the lawsuit was filed or the next business day, on July 6, the case was assigned to a judge only on July 7, 2020
Both claims have a value of BGN 15,000 each.
