This morning, teams from various institutions inspected the Hypoland chain’s offices and stores. The full-scale inspection comes just days after CEO Marian Kolev posted a critical Facebook post about police actions during the Sept. 2 anti-government protest. She then announced that her 17-year-old son was also among the victims covered in the hot spray. “Dnevnik” talks to “Hipoland” CEO Marian Kolev about the protests, what happened to her son and today’s inspections.
Today, inspectors from various institutions entered Hypoland’s offices. Could you tell us what you are checking, what have you found so far, and what is the reason for checking?
– At approximately 10 o’clock, employees of the National Revenue Agency, the Economic Police and the Market Supervision at the same time, 14 people in the same second, showed up at the “Hipoland” headquarters. Everything is completely coincidence, the hours just coincided. Apparently a planned inspection of Hypoland is normal. The “market surveillance” verifies the labels, the Economic Police verifies our contracts, NRA – cash registers. That is, what is within the scope of their activities. At one point they went to review the salaries, which is not bad, but none of these agencies cares about their salaries, that is the work of the National Institute of Social Security and the Labor Inspection, but good. We provide full cooperation. Most inspectors are ashamed of what they are doing, but that is the situation.
Do we understand that this is really a standard planned control of the declarations of the institutions?
– Nothing is planned. I say that. They give no explanation at all. They say, “We are right.” That’s right, that’s why we provide full cooperation. Later, the Economic Police recalled that we have a warehouse, and called the employees of the Customs Agency and we are now inspectors of 4 institutions. The Customs Agency was very surprised, because ten days ago we had a full inspection. It is a long process and there are protocols. Because of this, they were surprised to be checking something that they had checked very recently. But this is the situation and for now the boys are inside. Now we are waiting for the others: the CPC, the CPC, the National Institute of Social Security, the Labor Inspectorate, the Attorney General’s Office. I think they should come. Because they ignore me?
And during today’s inspections, were there any violations?
– No violations. They find some small errors: BGN 20 did not come out at the box office. They are registered and there is a court order, but someone did not touch the button. Hey, what nonsense. An inspection is currently being carried out and if there are errors, they will be formed later in the form of acts. But we have nothing to worry about. We have been doing very clean business since Hypoland’s first second and we have nothing to fear. Who wants to check us out. When many types of inspections happen at the same time, it hampers the entire organization. So far, they have entered 10 stores in the province. Work is hampered and branches cannot function, but obviously all stores will be checked. No problem. In one of the stores they found some inaccuracy, which later turned out not to be true. If there is an error, establish with the relevant documents and evidence, this is quite normal.
Why is it happening at this time? What is your explanation
– Well, there must have been a post on Facebook about how protesters work and what sprays they use, if they are allowed, approved or use chemical poisons, but I’m probably wrong. It’s a coincidence, in my opinion.
Tell us what happened to your son at the September 2 protest. In the post, you said days ago that there was a risk to his eyesight. What was it gassed with?
– I do not know that. There was a large tube with something orange in it. He was shot 20 cm directly in his mouth and eyes while yelling “Resignation”. And not just for him, of course. And against many other people. And those who fired were different from the policemen who were on the front line arguing with the protesters whether they could enter parliament or not. It is in no way intentional against you. They just went out and sprayed whoever they saw with no choice: that he was a provocateur, that someone else was throwing something, and so on. This was the first gas attack of the day, and so far no one had thrown a penny at the police. And when they poisoned us, there were already people throwing away bottles of mineral water.
From what I understand, you were also there when all this happened?
– I was there. My son and I met accidentally. I am at the protests almost every day and every night, except that I am with my classmates and my son is with his. Everyone is with your organization. I did not persuade or make anyone come. We bumped into each other that day. And thank God, because after a few hours he couldn’t speak and he was like a blind man, like Samuel’s warrior.
Have you been gassed too?
– If much. But less than my son, because I was 2-3 meters away, and he was directly in front.
There has been a lot of criticism of you, that a minor child goes to protests with political demands. Your answer?
– He is 17 years and 9 months old, I cannot and should not give him a reason for what to do. There are also smaller children there. She has children of 3 and 5 years. Because it goes? I did not make him walk or walk. But I can say something that I like. She is in one of the most beautiful schools and out of a hundred of her classmates and classmates who are graduating now, there is only one who wants to study in Bulgaria. And this is my son. And you can study at universities in Bulgaria and the best universities in America, Germany, England, where you can get into a dance. And he’s sorry that everyone, the other 99, doesn’t want to. And he is campaigning among them to stay in Bulgaria. I have not convinced him and I have never stopped him, although now I am angry and will do something I hate: I will try to convince him that he should not do it if things continue as they want the nasty muzzles to continue. I will persuade him to leave, but I firmly hope I don’t have to.
Have you paid and agitated your employees to attend protests?
– You can ask anyone you ask my employees, from any store. There are phones, call them. Both new and old. Ask them: Has someone agitated you, paid you? Ask them. No problem.
I’m asking you.
– Only once did we dress in a demonstrative way to show that we, Hypoland, are against all this. From then on I met many colleagues. I have been with colleagues at the protest with whom we have a closer relationship. Nobody has been paid a penny. No one has been raped. And those who are there are because they want to be there. It is.
Will you continue the protests from now on?
“Why not?” You don’t even have to ask?
