Mandatory PCR test for those transiting through Turkish airports

According to Turkish Airlines, the requirement to present a negative Sars-CoV-2 PCR test, which the country introduces for all citizens entering its territory, will also apply to passengers in transit through airports, the Foreign Ministry said.

Earlier The Turkish airline announces that the measure will only affect passengers in transit across land borders.

The new restrictions will take effect from 11:00 p.m. on December 29, 2020.

All passengers over 6 years of age must present a negative PCR test performed within 72 hours prior to travel upon arrival.

Arrivals that do not have one are subject to a mandatory 7-day quarantine, after which they must take a test and in case of a negative result they are released from quarantine. Citizens with a positive result will be treated according to the protocol of the Turkish Ministry of Health in a Turkish medical institution.

Additionally, starting at 11:00 p.m. on December 29, 2020, Turkey will suspend flights to and from the United Kingdom, Denmark and the Republic of South Africa, with the exception of repatriation flights.
